I was very pleased to be honored by the National Federation of the Blind for my legislative work last session (2009) Below I have quoted their 2010 legislative priorities newsletter:
National Federation of the Blind of Virginia
www.nfbv.org
From their Legislative Priorities for Blind Virginians – 2010:
"The National Federation of the Blind of Virginia commends the General Assembly, particularly Delegate Barry D. Knight, for working on our behalf to require Virginia’s teachers of Braille to be certified in that subject area. Delegate Knight introduced HB 2224 in the 2009 session. It would have required teachers of Braille in Virginia to be certified in Braille. The General Assembly last amended the Virginia Code’s Braille teaching standards about 16 years ago."
